ok. i have made up my mind to quit smoking. and hopefully today will be the day. i have really been feeling so convicted about smoking. i want to be here when my kids grow up.. so my question is how well does the patch work?
I have seen it work very well for those who truly do want to quit. But, be careful of starting if you have any heart problems, such as high blood pressure, or history of a heart attack because the patch may aggravate these conditions. Most certainly though, do not smoke while you have the patch on, it will cause your Blood Pressure to go up and also may make you really nervous. Good Luck! YOU CAN DO IT!!
although the long term reasons are reason enough….the instant results are my motivation? i want to think that right now my lungs are cleaning out and that causes me to not smoke..i could be lying to myself but it works LOL! anyone know any real immediate things that happen when you first quit?
Hey,
I had seen a guy mentioning a site http://healthexercisepro.com/
I also went there and the site has got some very nice articles. I really liked the site. I think all the guys who want to quit smoking should have peep in there. It has got lots of articles on quit smoking and health exercise.
Awesome site.
Try it out
I’ve stopped smoking(cold turkey) while on it before but started again(obviously) and i was wondering if there is an easier way that is safe to use/do while on birth control pills?
No. I’m afraid not. You need to quit (again). Not only for the pills, but for your general health.
Kincaid1 now we know why you're a top contributor of Ettiquette. You're a stuffy ash0le
Have you got some money? Give up smoking and go on a holiday by yourself for a few months while you de-tox. Perfect excuse - fear of being bad husband and imprisonment for assault. Who would deny you a holiday with such a sincere motive?
but im always udner the influence i love how it feels but i cant be like this my whole life what can i do?
Just stop. I used to smoke all the time too. I quit doing it one day and grew up. You will probably lose some friends, I did all the ones that still just wanted to get high all the time instead of actually being a friend. You just have to put your mind to it and stop. Good luck.

The main fact behind quitting smoking is that it is not a difficult task.

True, other fact is, buying and smoking another one is even more easier task than quitting. So in smoking, starting has always been more easier task than quitting.
To quit, is for health, family, mental stage, Age, Social or Job requirement. And to smoke that every smoker knows.
Ok i ahve to ask the people who have stoped smoking not people who never smoked who think they understand.Real past smokers.I stoped smoking threw hypnoses yesterday,so far i havent wanted to smoke,no i lie i want to smoke and keep thinking of it but i dont and i havent smoked as of yet.AQll day its been stressful, trying to stop smoking then deal with people at work,i want to throw them off a train or into a train what ever works for me.Has anyone tryed anything from the health stores that works for anger and stress, not perscribed meds just herbs.Thank you so very much.I need somthing to calm me down befor i flip
I quit smoking about 30 years ago and when I did, I quit cold turkey without any drugs, patches, hypnosis or anything else like that. I was smoking 3 packs a day when I did quit.
The hospital in my town has a quit smoking plan that they presented. It would tell you each day from the day you quit what you felt like and what was going on and how you were reacting and what to do.
If I could remember it all I would be glad to relate it to you but it was too long ago. All I know is it worked and I haven't smoked a cigarette since then.
Several things I do remember are, stay away from acidic foods, they enhance the craving for a cigarette. Drink plenty of water to flush the nicotine from your system.
The normal craving for a cigarette lasts approximately 2 minutes so when you have a craving, tell yourself that you "chose" not to smoke that cigarette for 10 minutes, and generally during that 10 minutes you will be distracted and find something else to occupy your time and forget about the cigarette.
Smoking is also a habit that is tied to other habits. If you drink a cup of coffee and have a cigarette, then don't have the cup of coffee and you won't have the cigarette. If you eat dinner then sit and watch tv and smoke a cigarette then don't sit and watch tv, do something different. In other words change the routine that makes you smoke.
If you slip and smoke a cigarette, that's okay but next time make sure you get back on track. Never say I "quit" smoking. Quit has a negative impact, you should always say you "choose" not to smoke, that is a positive attitude and works much better.
If you want more information then you need to get in touch with your local hospital or someplace like that and see if they have any classes on helping you to quit smoking. It worked for me and with 3 packs a day, I thought it would be impossible to quit. Back then there weren't any patches and stuff. I didn't have much choice of how I was going to quit.
Good luck, I hope I was of some help. Just hang in there, the first two weeks are the worse, if you can make it through them you will be okay.
My sister has been smoking for a long time, and she's tried to stop SEVERAL times, but I was wondering what some ways you people stopped smoking, or what a good idea would be to help her stop? (She also lives with her smoking husband, and I want to help him stop too.)
I used to smoke about a pack and a half every day for about 6 years, and have tried numerous ways to quit. The patch in my opinion doesnt work, and niether does hypnotism. I took a pill called "Chantix" and that work really well. The pill binds to the receptors in the brain that nicotine attaches to releasing seritonin (a pleasure inducing horomone), leaving no room for the actual nicotine. This pretty much creates an effect on the same level of drinking but not being able to get intoxicated. In other words the user gets none of the pleasurable effects of smoking. But also the first three days of not smoking is getting over the side effects of smoking, the rest of the time is merely breaking the habbit (for most people this is the problem). Also, the person has to have the desire to quit, otherwise no method will help. Nagging about smoking and showing pictures of the damages of smoking will not help a person quit, most smokers find it rather anoying. Good luck hope your sister can quit!
