The 16 hour patch advertises that you don't smoke while you are asleep and therefor don't need a 24 hour patch while the 24 hour patch advertises that having a 24 hour patch avoids you waking up with cravings…so which is right?
I don't smoke…

Forget them all, check out "The Electric Cigarette" by Gamucci :-)

i just decided to try and start the smoking patches and i was wondering where it would be better to place it.. on the upper arm or the back of my shoulder blade.. thank youuu

The area for you to place the nicotine patch should be indicated on the box.
However, I will tell you here.
It is recommended that you place the patch at a fatty area, eg: The upper arm, at the thigh, at your bum. However, you shouldn't actually place it at the back as it is too near to your heart. You don't want the highest concentration of nicotine reaching your heart first as nicotine can speed up your heart beat.
That is why the patch should only be placed at fatty area where the absorption is slower and the concentration can even out before it reaches the blood stream.

One more important thing is to rotate the area where you place the patch every single day. Eg. Today you place it on your left arm, then tomorrow you should place it on your right arm. the day after, maybe at your thigh and you change the area. This is because you don't want the adhesive of the patch to cause a skin allergy reaction.

Congratulations for quitting.

I went out and bought the patches for my dad, and he's trying it. Hopefully It'll work..

Don't know cause I smoked while wearing the things. The only way they could have helped me is if I had rolled up the patches and smoked them instead.

ok i hade my last cig around 6pm and now it's midnight and i REALLY REALLY REALLY need a cig. can i just put a patch on now or do i have to wait a while longer?

Actually you can put the patch on right after you put your last cigarette. Generally it takes a little bit for the nicotine from the patch to give you the full benefit anyway. The suggestion is not to smoke while wearing the patch and wait at least 2 hours if your going to take it off to smoke. You surely can talk to a Pharmacist but pretty sure you'll hear the same thing. The mg that you use is based on how much you smoked a day. A pack/day generally says use 21mg. Best of luck. Understand that some people have vivid dreams at night when wearing it to bed if you can stand that then you really ought to wear it the full 24 hours so when getting up in the morning you still have enough nicotine in your system to put on your new patch.

I have to quit like now!

the best way to do it is: first, HONESTLY ask yourself if you want to quit and why? second: assess yourself if you have the will power to quit smoking. if you honestly decided to quit, then you can tell yourself you can do it. Third: look in your everyday life what are the things that you do to light up a cigarette: coffee, alcohol, food, telephone, work, people around you, etc. HOW I DID IT: COLD TURKEY!!!! first: wash all clothes, if they are clean, re-wash them again. second: clean the whole house (we use lysol) and places where you normally smoke, even in the car. third: throw away all ashtrays and any other things associated with smoking. fourth: avoid places where there are smokers. Fifth: be conscious of your daily life habits that make you light up a cigarette, avoid them if possible, if not, minimize them or be conscious of them. How do i do it if i get nicotine attack? i sliced fresh lemon in to small pieces. whenever i get the urge to light up, i reached into a plastic bag of fresh lemon and suck on it and in a few seconds, my urge died down. i take it one fresh lemon at a time. one fresh lemon became one hour, then one day, then one week, then one month and on and on without lighting up. i have not picked up or lighted up a cigarette for about 8 years now and counting. i can taste food better, smell fresh air and don't cough anymore. i'd played with my kids and grand kids longer than it used to. in other words, the plusses out weight the minuses. IF I DID IT, YOU CAN DO IT. GOOD LUCK.

I would like to buy a stop smoking patch.

there is one being sold for $50 US all natural for one month supply.

is it too expensive?

Yes!

It is too expensive.

It is a money flushed down the toilet.

If you are really serious in the giving up business, do not buy any of this cheating toys.

Nicotine is no food or drink your body really needs.

Just give up.

If you are as strong as you think you are, prove it to your self.
Trust me it is not that hard.

I am a fragile old woman and I can start and stop any time.

Can You?

The much bigger problem is the alcohol.
That is the sh!t I can't stop.

Can you help ME?

Yes, that is one of the side effects of any of the smoking cessation aides that uses nicotine as the method to quit.

Try to think through the nausea or get a less strong patch.

Quit now!!!
