Trying to quit smoking for good. Any tips?

10 points to someone with a really good idea I haven't heard before. Smoking runs in my family, and I believe I have a genetic predisposition. I've smoked and quit over and over again for five years now, three of which were smoke three, but two of which were heavy. I've tried a wide variety of herbal remedies, nicotine replacement therapy methods, meditation and Tai chi, and creative visualization. Any help or humor appreciated.

    Nicotine addiction is like an itch. If you itch, it's nice to scratch it.
    But better to have no itch at all.

    I never smoked myself but my father has try a sucker or gum when ever u want to smoke that's what my father does.

    Try lifesavers whenever you get a craving, it worked for my ex's mom and somewhat for me. I quit by gradually cutting down and then just deciding one day not to have one at all. Its not easy and I'm not trying to make it sound that way. I still crave a smoke every now and then and its been 16 months for me. I just have to remind myself how bad my lungs felt before I quit and then divert my attention to something else. Ever try hypnosis? I hear it works as well. Good luck with your fight.     I smoked for 22years. Like you I tried over and over. I finally decided after losing both parents to lung cancer(because of smoking.)Zyban helped alot. I decided I'd like to see my son wrestle in high school. I want to be there when my daughter is married. Spoiling my grandchildren and traveling in retirement doesn't have to be a dream.It's really a matter of quitting and sticking to it. I still having cravings but I've realized a butt isn't the solution to everything.My parents missed out on alot. You truly have to want to quit. Nothing is ever easy. Don't give up.Reward yourself often

    besides those stuff u've tried, how bout wen u feel the urge, replace it with exercise. U'd probly get the same satisfaction but better knowing u'd done sumthin healthy. So start goin to the gym or going for a run. And wen u feel like smokin, go for a run or do 100 pushups or sumthing. By then hopefully the urge would be gone.

    go see a doctor first tho, wouldnt want ya injuring urself XD

    I use noni juice to help stay thin but when I was reading about noni juice and doing my research it said that many people have had luck quitting smoking with noni juice. I don't know why because I use it for a different reason but they said it helps. Check it out for yourself, there's some cool stuff you can read about it. Best of luck.
