I always wondered why people started smoking in the first place and now you’ve given me some clues. It seems smoking is a substitute for uncontrollable urges like hurting someone, even someone you love. Is that it? I remember my dad smoking when I was a kid and wondering why my mother would marry someone like that. Some things just defy logic I guess

this is a real quagmire, if you quit smoking you will be in better health but yours wife health would decline, or if you keep smoking your health will decline but your wife would stay healthy.
