Is there any chance he'll quit smoking pot after over ten years?

My boyfriend of a year has been smoking pot every day (multiple times a day) for over ten years. It drives me crazy. Whenever I bring it up he says I'm trying to change him, but I don't consider it that. I'm just concerned about his health and well being. He gets really defensive when I talk about it. Besides that everything is great, I just can't stand that he has to do it all the time because it makes me feel like he's self medicating for something else that may be going on. Things are getting serious, but I can't picture starting a family with someone who smokes that much pot. He says I'm being uptight, overreacting, and that there's many functional people who smoke pot every day, and that it's more about my issues than it is about his. He says he'll quit EVENTUALLY. He's 31 years old (7 years older than me, so he has this whole "I'm schooling you" attitude that's hard to argue with). Is there any chance he'll ever quit, and should I even consider staying in hopes he will?

As you know. anything is possible. But all the people I've known that have smoked for years, are still doing it. Including myself. I do see where you're coming from, but it seems he's pretty set in his ways. I do wish you luck with whatever decision you make.

Sure, he'll quit when he realizes it's negative. Until then, he thinks it benefits him.
You said besides that "everything is great"?..
