I've been smoking for 35 years now and tried every method to quit.I can beat the physical withdrawal.I quit once for eight weeks of boot camp and another time for twelve weeks after a major surgery. The only times I don't feel the nicotine cravings and am able to not smoke are when I get a migraine or cold/flu with fever. As soon as I feel better the mental and physical withdrawal symptoms come back so I start smoking again.I get total almost clinical depression, anxiety and insomnia when I try to quit. Please don't tell me to use patches, gum, lozenges or cold turkey. That doesn't work for me.
Try laser treatment. It's harmless and it works. A little pricey but so is smoking.I am speaking from experience.
What drugs should I ask my doctor for to quit smoking?

It seems you depend too much on outside strength and too little on your won strength. Stop hoping for the miracle cure, it wont come. Start finding the strength inside yourself.

Psychiatrists will help you in your problem, smoking is not a disease but although causes disease. Smoking is a habit, and habit is a form of mind.
You need to consult Psychiatrists or Psychologists… If not try a Hypnotist, and tell him to Implant in your mind that Cigarettes is Poison.

Michael, the patches, gum, lozenges, and cold turkey dont work for you because you dont want it too. You need to toughen up a bit mate…. yes you will go through withdrawals, but nothing is free in this life, and you will appreciate it more once your free of the ciggies. Try the quit helpline, or looking a horrible images which are caused as a result of smoking, there is hypnotherapy, and some of my friends have tried reading books on giving up smoking. It worked for one of my friends.
Really, in the end, if you want something bad enough, you'll do it.
Good Luck

My doctor put me on Wellbutrin to help me quit smoking. It's a pretty common smoking cessation drug as well as an anti-depressant. I smoked for 20 years, heavily, and it really helped me. I haven't had a cigarette in 5 years now. I am not a cold turkey type of person, so I took the drug for four months, steadily cutting back how many I smoked. When I was down to about 3 a day, I picked a day and quit completely. I won't lie, even after all that, the first three days were bad, but by the fourth day I was out of the woods. Don't stop trying, whatever you do, there are different methods out there and it's worth trying anything you can until one finally works. Good luck!

Ask your doctor about Chantix. Thats what I used and I am now 81 days smokefree and nicotine free. There are great forums for chantix only users you can check out first. You start taking it 1 week before your quit date and keep smoking. As it starts working you will not want the cigarettes. It made my quit very doable and possible. I had smoked 1 1/2 packs/day for 34 years. By the third day I was only smoking 1 1/2 sickerettes/day. Check it out. Good Luck. Go For Freedom. If you really want to quit no method will do all of it, but like you I tried them all and this is the most successful I've been. Get into a good support group and read Allen Carr's EASYWAY TO STOP SMOKING - You'll be de-lighted.
